Biden Administration revokes Trump-era Presidential Proclamations on Immigrant Visas

Monday, Mar 1, 2021

On February 24, 2021 President Biden revoked the Trump-era ban on certain immigrant entries (i.e. green cards) effective immediately. The proclamation does not revoke the employment-based nonimmigrant visa ban including H-1B, L-1 and J-1 visas which is scheduled to expire March 31, 2021.

Please be advised that Country-specific COVID-19 travel restrictions remain in effect and foreign nationals may need to apply for national interest exceptions in order to be issued an immigrant visa. U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide are likely to continue to experience reduced consular operations in connection with COVID-19 public health measures.

The Davis International Center and our campus partners continue to monitor new immigration updates and how they may affect our international community. If you have any questions about your immigration status as it pertains to this announcement please contact your Davis International Center Advisor directly.
